  REVIEW:

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End may explain how the “Poop Deck” got its name!

At the end of the last Pirates movie, Jack (played by Johnny Depp) was sucked into the ocean by a giant octopus monster creature.  Now, if they want Jack back, his friends are going to have to go the end of the world to find him.  Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are also back in this movie.  Keira will help get Jack back if it means she can be with Orlando and Orlando will help get Jack back if it means he can save his father. After they get Jack back, the story is confusing at best.  Pirate groups from around the world plan to gather.  Although for what isn’t clear and once they do you wonder why they did at all.   Maybe it’s all to show off the special effects, swashbuckling brawls and gun slinging scenes.  Even if the story made little sense, in the end it looks like they plan to make yet another Pirates movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At WIT’S End . . . or at least, hopefully, THE END.  As big fans of the first movie, we love the characters.  But, the story makes a true shipwreck out of this movie.  It’s visually spectacular, and the actors all deliver strong performances, but the story is so bad – or, perhaps, the telling of the story – that you’re lost for the entire 2 hours and 48 excruciating minutes.  And, if you think the kids will like it anyway – BEWARE . . . in a bizarre move by Disney, this movie starts with mass hangings and gets even more disturbing.  Tragically, after the first Pirates, the franchise ship has sailed.

  MOVIE NIGHT TRAFFIC LIGHT:

On the Movie Night Traffic Light on a scale of GREEN meaning “Go – it’s a must see”, YELLOW meaning “Caution – it’s okay” and RED meaning “No - stop don’t do it."

We rate Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End RED.  Stop – unfortunately, this one is not worth it!
